Who Does Church Care Help?

Financial Help
The people who receive financial help from participating churches and/or their member volunteers via Church Care are those who tell the truth - otherwise they disqualify themselves. Many of those who tell the truth and do receive help from participating churches are hardworking single mothers. Some others are temporarily without income. Many are elderly and/or suffer health problems that prevent them from working. Most are low income earners who are hit with a sudden extraordinary expense not of their own making, and they have no way to make it good. Often a one time help for people in these circumstances will save them a move to a shelter - a move that almost always follows eviction. In some cases it will save them from being added to the welfare rolls.

Hands-On Help
Most people who receive "hands-on" help from participating churches fit this same description - they have told the truth about their situation but have no money to pay for what is needed. For instance - someone who is in need of a wheelchair ramp. They have no family to help, no home church to help, and the agencies that might help have a three year waiting list. There are 40 plus different kinds of needs of this sort for which Church Care tries to find volunteer Christian help. See Talent Bank Inventory.
